His name is Taiki :DHe doesn't speak much English, but I can still talk to him enough with the Japanese I know, and the English he knows.
I want to ask him more about his situation though, as I'm not sure if he is staying here permanently.
Could someone translate a few questions for me to help with conversation?

- How do you like it here so far?
- Have you met a lot of new friends?
- Are you an exchange student?
- Are you staying here permanently?
- How long are you staying?

And also I'm having my sweet sixteen this year, and I'm pretty sure he'll still be here even if he's not staying permanently by then.. so I want to invite him.

Huh. So that’s how this week is going to be, huh.

Last night due to unforeseen issues I feasted on Fruit Loops cereal and beer for dinner.

The DNC (Democratic National Convention) is in full swing. Last night we sat in front of the television to witness a small piece of history with Hilary Clinton giving an amazing speech. I was sucked in from the opening line and spent the remainder of her speech cheering, tearing up and getting goosebumps.

Now, with an agenda like that, it makes perfect sense that Goerge Bush and John McCain will be together next week in the Twin Cities. Because these days they’re awfully hard to tell apart.

Grrrr-eat, W is going to be here too…I guess I knew that in the back of my mind.

The Repubs will be taking over my city
Yeah, starting this weekend the Twin Cities (Minneapolis & St. Paul) will be crawling with people for the RNC (Republican National Convention.) Joy…happy, sweet mother fucking joy! Here is what I know:
• My office building (IDS) is hosting a Minneapolis media room on the skyway level (helloooo Anderson Cooper.)
• The hotel in my office building is going to be filled with prestiges dignataries and delegates.
• I have to have my identification badge on me at all time to get in and out (well, maybe not out) of my office building.
• The security guards in my building will be dressed in more tactical looking uniforms. I am curious to see what that means. I hope they have hats!
• There is only one scheduled protest on Nicollet Mall (street in front of my building.)
• I will be carrying my camera with me at all times because you never know what shenanigans may ensue or celebrities I may see.
• Anderson Cooper…(Andy, Andy, Andy)

Idol Update
Okay, I need sign ideas! The girl I am taking, O wants to make a Syesha one. I don’t know what kind of sign I want to make yet. So…to all my fellow Idol fans (and to those who mocked me) get your brainstorming hats on. My sign can be for anyone of the idols…bonus points if we come up with something awesome for Chikeze or Carly. Too bad we threw away the “We heart JB” sign from our baseball roadtrip. That would be confusingly funny.
  

Fashion Maven, I may not be
So, it was raining this morning and I decided to wear a pair of socks with my foam shoes (Crocs.) The end result is pretty dorkilicious but at least my feet aren’t wet. So there.

I've been posting a hodgepodge of random things, but it seems I have neglected to let everyone know what else I've been up to besides playing with photoshop and smearing make-up all over my face in the middle of the night, so I thought I would make a list noting all the other happenings in my life.

- took a third place finish in jokerstills
- finally finished all 100 Treasure Planet icons for disney100
- started a new 100 icon challenge with 100stockicons
- made more icons for kelicons that I have yet to post
- found a beta reader for my joker fic who told me I nailed the Joker character dead on
- took a break from my joker vector as it was straining my eyes
- rediscovered hobbit smut I wrote in 03 and posted it online
- found materials to make a postcard to send to postsecret
- working at a fair for a day next weekend
- neglecting the dishes in the sink
- fresh out of the shower
- craving a piece of cheesecake

Lesson One: if you really have to hurt someone, be as much of an asshole as you can, so that they can at least feed on hate and anger to recover their self-esteem. You can make energy out of anger, but certainly not out of pity.

Mini Rant:
Like most people in this community, I have love for all the brothers and sisters throughout our glorious diaspora.  But this shit annoys me...I went to a poetry reading in the City a couple days and came across a phenomenon I thought died out in the 90's, like visors and Floam: a misguided, most likely insecure, slightly delusional black individual for whom being black JUST ISN'T ENOUGH.  This is not to say that there aren't Black people who have American-Indian blood running through there veins, I know there are....I just thought people would do their research before they start professing they are 1/12th Cherokee(a very popular one, but I'm sure you've heard that before).  Not to mention how giddy they get at the chance to stake claim to their reservation herded brethren....yet some of these same people display obvious apprehensive and resistance to claiming African nations are their place of origin. *Sigh*
